How Kit Homes Work
Building a kit home is certainly not a new concept. Mass-marketed by Sears Roebuck and Company in 1916, kit homes have been available for over 100 years. What makes BuiltSmart Kit Homes different is our kits are engineered with energy efficient SIP panelized wall construction.
SIP panels are a layered structural system composed of a low-density core material bonded to a relatively thin, high-strength facing material. SIPs provide exceptional strength for the amount of material they require. Our BuiltSmart Kit Homes are the perfect solution for the do-it-yourselfer. Our kits are easy to build, stronger, and are more energy efficient than typical modular homes, manufactured homes, mobile homes, or log cabins. A wall constructed with SIPS performs at a higher R-Value than a conventionally built wall using batt insulation, which equals energy conservation, and the sustainable materials used in our BuiltSmart Kit Homes have a lower impact on the environment than materials used in conventional framed construction.
Your BuiltSmart Kit will arrive on a flat bed truck along with all windows, doors, and exterior siding (if chosen). You have the option of finishing the interior yourself or having interior finish materials such as sheetrock, moldings, flooring, fixtures, and cabinets delivered at the same time. This allows you, do-it-yourselfers, the flexibility to tackle as much or as little of the assembly processes you choose. If you prefer, we can provide a local professional installer to assemble your BuiltSmart Kit for you. Contact Us today to learn more about how a BuiltSmart Kit Home might fit together with your needs.
